The municipality of Mijas will host a new edition of the ‘Night of jazz’ next Saturday, June 20th. The event will feature performances by national bands The Dixie Kings and O Sister! at the Municipal Auditorium Miguel González Berral of the Town, starting at 10:00 PM, where funds will be raised for the food bank, as reported by the City Council this Wednesday.

Fernando García, from Mijas Tourism, has highlighted the importance of continuing to promote initiatives that allow diversifying the tourist offerings of the municipality, emphasizing the commitment to “activities that economically energize Mijas and that allow showing visitors everything our municipality has to offer.”

“We want to continue consolidating an attractive cultural program that complements our tourist offerings and contributes to making Mijas a lively destination throughout the year,” he explained.

The event will feature one of the most prominent groups of the national scene, The Dixie Kings, a quartet born in Granada in 2011 specialized in recreating the traditional jazz of New Orleans from the early decades of the 20th century. Inspired by figures such as Louis Armstrong or King Oliver, their concerts combine music, humor, and an informative effort that brings the audience closer to the history and roots of this musical genre.

Also taking the stage will be O Sister!, a Sevillian formation with more than fifteen years of experience and six published records, which has established itself as one of the national references of swing and American roots jazz. Their proposal combines the musical tradition of New Orleans with contemporary influences and an original repertoire that has led them to perform on hundreds of stages in Spain, Europe, the United States, and Asia.

Charitable Event

He also emphasized the charitable nature of this edition, as “in addition to enjoying a great night of music, attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate with a good cause, through the donation of non-perishable food for the municipal food bank.”

Meanwhile, José Francisco García, CEO of Pandaluz, has highlighted the artistic quality of the lineup prepared for this edition, recalling that “last year the experience was extraordinary and the audience feedback was very positive.”

García especially highlighted the presence of O Sister!, one of the most recognized bands of the genre in Spain. “We are talking about a group with a consolidated trajectory, with a very careful artistic proposal and a great ability to connect with the audience. We are convinced that they will be one of the major attractions of the night,” he added.

The auditorium will open its doors at 9:00 PM and the concert will start at 10:00 PM. Entry will be charitable by donating non-perishable food items destined for the municipal Food Bank.
