Mijas leads in hotel occupancy in the Costa del Sol in April
The forecasts for the coming months are also optimistic, with more than 81% estimated occupancy in May and above 91% in June.
The occupancy data provided by the Association of Hotel Business Owners of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos) for the month of April place Mijas at the top of the province of Malaga, with a record of 82.90%, which is an 8.33% increase compared to the same month last year.
Indeed, last April, an occupancy rate of 74.57% was recorded, which is why the mayor of the municipality, Ana Mata, has positively valued these figures: "The tourist positioning of Mijas is undeniable and, month by month, the figures demonstrate this. We are a very complete destination that makes us unique and, moreover, the Mijas brand is synonymous with quality and unique experiences. I take this opportunity to congratulate all the professionals in the sector for their excellent performance, which makes it possible for us to talk about Mijas as a leading destination today," explained the mayor.
For his part, Juan Miguel Marcos, vice president of Aehcos in Mijas, also wanted to highlight the forecasts that the hotel industry association manages for the month of May. "The forecast is that in the month we just started, Mijas will reach an occupancy rate of 81.28%, while the forecasts for June would again place the locality as a leader with a rate of 91.25%," he stated.
Regarding the tourist offices located in Mijas Pueblo and in La Cala throughout the month of April, 14,570 people requested information, with visitors from Spain, Britain, France, and Germany standing out.
