Campillos will hold the 18th edition of its Ham and Pork Products Fair this weekend, bringing together food producers and thousands of visitors from across Malaga and Andalusia.

The main event will take place on Sunday, November 8, at Parque José María Hinojosa, where more than 50 companies will sell ham, cured meats, cheese, olive oil, wine and other Andalusian products.

The programme begins on Saturday with a ham-carving course, a wine tasting and free evening entertainment. Sunday will bring the main food market, family activities, cultural visits and live music.

More than 50 companies at the food market

The fair will officially open at 10.30am on Sunday. Producers, artisans and food businesses will fill Parque José María Hinojosa with stalls offering products to taste and purchase.

Ham will naturally be the main attraction, although visitors can also expect chorizo, morcilla, salchichón, cheese, olive oil, wine, traditional sweets and organic produce.

Recognised as an Event of Provincial Tourist Interest, the fair has become an important showcase for inland Malaga’s food industry. Last year’s edition attracted more than 17,000 visitors.

Ham carving and wine tasting on Saturday

The weekend programme will begin at 10am on Saturday, November 7, with an introductory ham-carving course in the Town Hall exhibition hall.

The session costs €15 per person and will introduce participants to the basic techniques needed to position, clean and carve a ham correctly.

At 1.30pm, Bodegas Carpe Diem will hold a wine tasting on the Town Hall esplanade. Participation costs €10.

Registration is handled through the Reserva Natural Lagunas de Campillos Interpretation Centre, subject to remaining availability.

Free music throughout the weekend

Saturday evening’s entertainment will begin with a performance by Señor Mirinda at 9.30pm on the Town Hall esplanade.

DJ Josan Oliva will then continue the party from 11pm until 3am.

Music returns at 4.30pm on Sunday with a performance by the Carmela Campos Folklore Association. Planeta80 will take the stage at 5.30pm with a repertoire inspired by popular music from the 1980s.

DJ Pedro Torres will close the celebrations with a final session from 7pm to 10.30pm.

Children’s entertainment and supervised play area

Families will find several activities for younger visitors. A children’s area offering face painting and balloon modelling will operate in Parque José María Hinojosa from midday until 5.30pm.

A supervised play service will also be available for children aged three and over in the Town Hall exhibition hall. It will operate in three sessions:

  • 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
  • 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
  • 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Each session costs €3.

Explore Campillos by tourist train

A tourist train will operate from 11am on Sunday, allowing visitors to explore Campillos and reach several local attractions. The announced fare is €3 per person.

The Reserva Natural Lagunas de Campillos Interpretation Centre will open from 11am to 3pm.

Visitors will also be able to enter local churches and brotherhood houses between 11am and 2pm.
