Amateur Golf Comes to Marbella

Circuito Albatros will hold its first 2026 tournament in Málaga province on Saturday, 12 September. More than 100 golfers will gather at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina in San Pedro Alcántara for one of the most anticipated events on the circuit’s calendar.

The competition reaches the Costa del Sol after visiting several courses across Andalusia and Portugal. Marbella will host the ninth tournament of the season, with four additional qualifying places for the Grand Final at stake.

Bullfighter Pepín Liria will also be involved as the tournament’s special ambassador, adding to the social and media dimension surrounding the different stages of the circuit.

Four Categories and Individual Stableford Format

The competition will be played under the Individual Stableford format, which awards points according to each golfer’s score on every hole. This system allows players to remain competitive throughout the round, as one poor hole does not necessarily determine the entire scorecard.

Participants will compete in four categories:

  • Scratch.
  • First category.
  • Second category.
  • Women.

Increasing female participation is one of the organisation’s priorities. The circuit maintains a dedicated women’s category, while women account for approximately 40% of its organising team.

Four qualifying places for the season-ending final will be awarded during the Marbella tournament.

More Than 100 Players at Guadalmina

The Marbella event will bring together more than 100 golfers, including players from Málaga province and members of the Costa del Sol’s large international golfing community.

This combination of local residents and players from other countries reflects one of the circuit’s main objectives: using sport to promote tourism and connect different destinations through a calendar of competitions.

Registration includes access to the club facilities, compulsory insurance and entry into the tournament. Players will also receive a welcome pack and refreshments during the day, with prizes and draws completing the experience.

Places are limited. The registration fee and tee times are not publicly displayed on the official event page and should therefore be confirmed directly with the organisers.

A Historic Costa del Sol Venue

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina has two 18-hole courses and a nine-hole par-3 layout. Its facilities also include a driving range for 40 players, a covered practice platform, chipping areas, a practice bunker and a putting green.

Throughout its history, Guadalmina has hosted major competitions including the 1965 Spanish Championship, European Tour Qualifying School events during the 1990s and the APG Spanish Professional Championship.

The club received its royal title in 2008 as it celebrated 50 years of golf on the Costa del Sol. Its Guadalmina Alta location places it in one of Marbella’s most established golfing areas.

A Circuit Across Andalusia

The 2026 season began at La Envía Golf in Almería on 11 April. It has since visited El Zaudín, Playa Serena, Córdoba, La Monacilla, Los Moriscos, Montecastillo and Portugal’s Quinta do Vale.

The circuit aims to bring amateur competition to all eight Andalusian provinces while promoting the region as a sporting, tourism and food destination. The calendar also includes events outside Andalusia, with tournaments scheduled in Madrid and Murcia.

More than 1,300 golfers are expected to participate throughout the season. Alongside competition, the initiative promotes sustainability, equality, inclusion and respect for the natural environment.

Upcoming Circuito Albatros Tournaments

Following the Marbella event, the calendar will continue with:

  • 26 September: La Cañada Golf, Sotogrande.
  • 3 October: RACE, Madrid.
  • 4 October: RACE, Madrid.
  • 17 October: Altorreal, Molina de Segura.
