Málaga will add an unusual event to its summer programme this weekend. Dog City, a centre specialising in dog care and accommodation, will host what its organisers describe as the first concert in Andalusia designed specifically for dogs.

The event, called Paws&Music, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 11 July, at Dog City’s facilities on Avenida Pintor Joaquín Sorolla, number 51, in Málaga city.

The experience will feature live piano music played at approximately 60 decibels, a controlled volume intended to avoid an excessively noisy environment and encourage a peaceful experience for both dogs and their owners.

A Concert Adapted to Dogs’ Sensitivity

Paws&Music differs from a conventional concert for human audiences. The volume, type of music and organisation of the space have been planned with the animals’ hearing sensitivity and wellbeing in mind.

The session will feature gentle piano melodies performed live. According to the organisers, the aim is to create a relaxing atmosphere that may help reduce stress and encourage calm behaviour among the dogs attending.

The sound will remain at around 60 decibels, a level similar to a normal conversation and considerably lower than the volume usually found at live music events.

Places are limited, and a maximum of two people will be allowed to accompany each dog, helping to prevent the venue from becoming overcrowded.

A Cultural Experience to Enjoy with Pets

The concert is designed as a shared experience for dogs and the people responsible for their care. Rather than excluding animals from cultural activities, Paws&Music makes them the main audience.

The initiative joins a growing range of leisure activities that pay closer attention to pet-friendly spaces and events.

It also encourages a different way of spending time with animals, combining live music, respect for their sensitivity and responsible interaction in the same experience.

As capacity is limited, attendees are advised to contact Dog City in advance to check availability and access conditions.

Dog City, a Centre Dedicated to Dog Care

Dog City opened in Málaga in December 2025 as a centre specialising in comprehensive dog care.

The project was created by Ana Albaladejo alongside Soho Boutique Hotels and Málaga actor Salva Reina. Its purpose is to provide a space where dogs can stay, rest, play and socialise when their owners are unable to look after them.

The facilities cover approximately 1,000 square metres and bring together several services, including a daycare centre, dog hotel, grooming salon, boutique, café and events programme.

Hotel and Daycare Services Adapted to Each Dog

The centre provides daytime care and temporary accommodation for owners who need to leave their dogs for several hours or days.

Dogs are placed in different areas according to their size and individual needs. This organisation is designed to improve safety and encourage appropriate interaction between the animals.

The facilities include heating and air-conditioning systems to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the year, as well as equipment intended to support hygiene and animal wellbeing.

Before accepting a new dog, Dog City requires an adaptation session lasting between one and two hours. This initial visit allows staff to assess how the animal responds to the environment, the team and the presence of other dogs.

Dogs must also have the vaccinations required by the centre.

Grooming, Boutique and Café for Owners

In addition to accommodation and daycare services, Dog City includes a grooming and canine wellbeing area offering baths, haircuts and other treatments.

The centre also has a boutique selling food, clothing, accessories and products for pet care.

Its facilities include a human-friendly café where owners can enjoy a drink while their dogs rest, play, receive a treatment or take part in an activity.

Dog City also organises talks, workshops, social gatherings and birthday celebrations for pets, as part of a programme designed to encourage learning and responsible interaction.

Málaga Expands Its Pet-Friendly Leisure Options

This first concert for dogs reflects the growth of cultural and leisure activities designed for people who live with animals.

In recent years, Málaga has added more businesses, accommodation options and venues where pets are welcome. Paws&Music goes one step further by designing the event itself specifically for them.

Live music, controlled volume and limited capacity make it one of the most unusual events in Málaga’s summer programme.
