The Carmen Thyssen Museum Málaga is bringing back Coanfi Nights at the Thyssen for another summer, following the renewal of its partnership with construction company Coanfi.

The 2026 programme will combine free evening admission, guided visits to temporary exhibitions, theatrical tours, live jazz and flamenco performances in the museum courtyard.

Activities will take place throughout July and August, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to explore the museum after dark and enjoy a different cultural experience in the heart of Málaga’s Historic Centre.

Free Thursday Evening Openings

The museum will offer free admission from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on five Thursdays in July and the first two Thursdays in August.

The selected dates are:

July: 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30
August: 6 and 13

During these special evening openings, visitors will be able to explore the museum’s permanent collection and its three current temporary exhibitions:

  • Archipiélago. Cartografía imaginaria de la Colección Suñol Soler (1960–1980)
  • Los Ribalta y el barroco naturalista
  • Manuel Franquelo. El lenguaje de las cosas

The museum shop and café will also remain open throughout the evening.

Free Guided Tours of ‘Archipiélago’

Each Thursday night will include three free guided tours of the temporary exhibition Archipiélago. Cartografía imaginaria de la Colección Suñol Soler (1960–1980).

The tours will begin at:

8:15 p.m.
8:50 p.m.
9:30 p.m.

Visitors must register at the museum ticket desk on arrival. Places will be allocated until capacity is reached.

The exhibition presents an imagined map of the Suñol Soler Collection through works created between 1960 and 1980, offering an overview of different artistic movements and creative approaches from the period.

Live Jazz in the Courtyard

The museum courtyard will host live jazz during each free Thursday evening opening.

Performances will take place from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., creating a relaxed atmosphere in which visitors can combine art, music and the architecture of the Palacio de Villalón.

The concerts will provide the final part of each evening’s programme after the guided visits and exhibition tours.

Flamenco in the Courtyard

The summer programme also includes two performances of Flamenco en el Patio. Vuelta a las raíces on July 10 and 31 at 9:00 p.m.

The Antonio de Verónica and Saray Cortés Flamenco Company will take audiences on a journey through some of flamenco’s most representative styles.

The production will move from the intensity of the martinete to the festive energy of bulerías, while also incorporating tangos, alegrías, castanets and rhythmic footwork.

Advance booking is required for both performances.

Theatrical Tours of ‘Los Ribalta’

Four theatrical visits to the exhibition Los Ribalta y el barroco naturalista will take place during July.

The scheduled dates are:

July 3, 4, 17 and 24 at 8:30 p.m.

The immersive experience will introduce visitors to the artistic world of Francisco and Juan Ribalta, father and son, focusing on their shared work in the family studio.

The performance will also explore the religious imagery, saints and biblical scenes that played a central role in their paintings.

Advance booking is required.
