From the Big Top to the Exhibition Hall

Cirque du Soleil leaps from the big top to the Ámbito Cultural hall of El Corte Inglés (Armengual de la Mota). An exhibition explores the unique universe of 'Kurios-Cabinet of Curiosities', the show currently being performed in Málaga, a world of eccentric and fascinating beings crafted with extraordinary detail. Each piece allows a close appreciation of the craftsmanship, costume design, and creative process that comes to life on stage with lights, music, and acrobatics. It will be available only until June 21, from 5 PM to 10 PM.

Among the most notable elements is an installation inspired by the early hot air balloons of the 19th century, a nod to the inventive spirit that runs through the entire show. This piece evokes an era when flying symbolized progress, curiosity, and fantasy, values that define the universe of 'Kurios' and its amazing stage artifacts.

'Kurios', which will be at the Fairgrounds until July 5, has the ability to surprise both newcomers to Cirque du Soleil and those who are already familiar with the Canadian company. It is a production with a very distinct identity within the 'du Soleil' brand. Externally, its retrofuturistic 'steampunk' aesthetic catches the eye, introducing the audience to an alternative 19th century. And this extends to the music, with cabaret, jazz, and vintage sounds prevailing over the classic epic tone of other productions.

Internally, there are also unique features. There are more objects and gadgets on stage than ever before. The props are part of the costumes of some characters (the belly-house, the man-train, the cloud-people) and are an essential element in the construction of certain acts. From a giant music box, two 'dolls' emerge to perform a number with somersaults four meters high. On a huge 340-kilogram mechanical hand, four artists create beautiful images with the flexibility of their bodies.
