A hundred-meter puff pastry in Mijas to raise funds for the fight against ALS this Saturday

A fundraising event with a tasty twist. This Saturday, Mijas will join the celebration of the World Day of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), with a charity event to raise funds to fight this disease. It will start at 6:30 PM in the parking lot of La Cala Boulevard, with free admission.

There, a 100-meter-long cream-filled puff pastry ribbon will be offered, made by Salvador and Tejeros bakeries, collaborators in the event. Additionally, there will be a stand where drinks will be sold to attendees. The proceeds from the sale of cake portions and drinks will be entirely donated to research against this disease. Furthermore, a dance group will perform to entertain the evening.

The mayor of Mija, Ana Mata, together with the Councilor for Social Inclusion, Mari Francis Alarcón, and the president of the Benalela Association, Juan Carrasco, presented the charitable initiative that seeks to contribute to the research to improve the quality of life of those suffering from this pathology, whose life expectancy is between three and four years from diagnosis.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. This condition causes muscle atrophy, eventually leaving the patient completely immobile, unable to perform basic tasks such as eating, speaking, or breathing, but with mental and cognitive faculties intact.
