Mijas awards Athisa Medio Ambiente the legionella prevention and control service

Athisa Medio Ambiente of the SASTI Group has been awarded the service for the prevention and control of legionella in facilities of the Mijas City Council, a contract that enhances health security in public spaces of the municipality.

The service has a budget of 468,519.58 euros and will initially last for four years, with the possibility of an annual extension.

A comprehensive service for the protection of public health

The contract includes comprehensive management aimed at the prevention, monitoring, and control of legionella risk, in accordance with current regulations (R.D. 487/2022). Key actions include updating the inventory of municipal facilities, annual cleaning and disinfection treatments, quarterly analyses, technical diagnostics of the facilities, delivery of record books with Legionella Prevention and Control Plans (PPCL), monthly reviews in ornamental fountains and sprinkler irrigation systems, and monthly control in municipal pools as per R.D. 485/2019.

Extensive coverage of municipal facilities

The service will cover a total of more than 130 municipal facilities, including 14 ornamental fountains, 12 educational centers, 36 municipal buildings, four tanker trucks, 44 sprinkler irrigation systems, 16 beach shower areas, and five municipal pools.

Specialized technical team and sustainable resources

For the development of the service, Athisa Medio Ambiente will have a highly qualified technical team, consisting of a team leader, two application technicians, a technical manager expert in legionella, and a support technician in the province of Málaga. All personnel have specific professional certification in hygienic-sanitary maintenance of risk facilities.

Additionally, the service will include a zero-emission electric vehicle, in line with the environmental criteria of the contract, and real-time computerization systems for monitoring and controlling actions.

Continuous training and advice

As part of the service, Athisa will provide specific training to municipal staff on compliance with R.D. 487/2022, as well as ongoing technical advice to ensure proper management of the facilities.
