Pepe Merchán Honored in Marbella for Promoting Music and Public Service

Marbella has paid tribute to Pepe Merchán for his dedication to public service and his contribution to the musical and cultural development of San Pedro Alcántara. Merchán was part of one of the first musical groups in San Pedro Alcántara, Los Problemas, and also promoted a band of cornets, drums, and bagpipes that allowed many young people to approach music. He also served for more than 40 years as a civil servant in the Deputy Mayor's Office of San Pedro Alcántara. "Music has been present in my life since childhood, and together with several friends, we created different groups that evolved and consolidated under the name Los Problemas, a formation with which we toured different parts of Spain," he states. Merchán also founded and directed the San Pedro Alcántara music band and incorporated the bagpipe as a distinctive element.
