Malaga-based writer Lola Cabrillana will present her latest novel, "La maestra de los invisibles," next Friday, May 8, in Mijas. The event will start at 7:00 PM at Lagar Don Elías, with free admission until full capacity is reached. The event is organized by the Mijas City Council's Department of Family and Equal Opportunities in collaboration with the reading club 'La excusa perfecta,' initiated by Carmen Bornao, the club's founder and owner of the educational bookstore La Cometa. During the event, Cabrillana will share with the audience the key aspects of her new work and will discuss some of the recurring themes in her books, such as education, teaching, youth, coexistence, and current social challenges. After the presentation, there will be a discussion where the audience can ask questions to the author. The mayor of Mijas, Ana Mata, who is also responsible for the Department of Family and Equal Opportunities, highlighted the social nature of Cabrillana's work and her role as a benchmark. "Lola Cabrillana is a social benchmark for all women, a Romani teacher who through her books, her stories, and her experience shapes a very inspiring and motivating way of viewing the world," Mata commented. Mata also emphasized that there are still pending challenges for women in areas such as professional development, tolerance, stereotypes, and glass ceilings. The presentation is part of the programming of the Department of Family and Equal Opportunities, which aims to bring different perspectives on society to the residents of Mijas through cultural, professional, and social benchmarks.
