The "Sabor a Málaga" Fair returns to Benalmádena this weekend, from April 24 to 26, marking its third consecutive edition in the municipality. It will once again transform the town into a showcase for the gastronomy and local products of the province of Málaga. This time, the event will bring together 36 Malaga producers from various parts of the territory, who will display more than 500 products from the rich provincial pantry. The fair will be held at the Adolfo Suárez square in Arroyo de la Miel and will offer a program with nearly twenty activities designed for all audiences. The program will include workshops, tastings, food pairings, showcookings with chefs from local restaurants, and musical performances, thus consolidating this event as one of the great gastronomic plans in Benalmádena for the weekend.
The official presentation was led by the provincial deputy Francisco José Martín and the Councilor for Commerce of the Benalmádena City Council, Raúl Campos.
Specifically, those who visit this fair will be able to enjoy and purchase a wide variety of local products from 23 municipalities: Alhaurín el Grande, Álora, Antequera, Ardales, Arriate, Benamocarra, Cártama, Coín, Colmenar, El Burgo, Faraján, Fuente de Piedra, Málaga, Mijas, Moclinejo, Mollina, Nerja, Pizarra, Ronda, Villanueva de la Concepción, Villanueva de Tapia, Villanueva del Trabuco, and Yunquera.
In the oil sector, notable brands include Aceites de Ardales, Aceites Gil Luna, Aceite Molino del Arco, Acilia from Cortijo de Pozo Ancho, La Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, and Aceites Tapia, while the wine sector features reference wineries such as Bodega Cortijo La Fuente, Bodegas Carpe Diem, Bodega Kieninger, Bodegas Morosanto, and Bodegas Excelencia.
Similarly, the cheese tradition also holds a prominent place with producers like El Llano Jaral, La Laja, Quesos Santa María del Cerro, La Arriateña, El Pastor del Valle, and El Porticatero. In the realm of cured meats, prominent names include Embutidos La Abuela Loli, Gamarro, Embutidos Melgar, Ibéricos Hermanos López, Francisco Torres Los de Castaña, and Carnicería Aragón, along with the meat preparations of Rulomalagueño and Las Delicias Artesanas de La Yaya.
The offering is completed with sweet and natural products, where Miel Productores Hermanos Gallardo stands out, in snacks, Patatas Millán and Aceitunas y Encurtidos Almario are highlighted. While the artisan pastry is represented by Las Delicias de Mi Noe and Bizcochería Lulapai, alongside coffees from Nerja Coffee Roasters.
There are also unique and high-quality proposals, such as the cream of ajoblanco Doña Amelia, avocados Dehesa Alta, Revival Spirulina, Mesura, La Tradición de Arriate, and Cerveza Rondeña.
On the other hand, it has been pointed out that this new edition of the Sabor a Málaga Fair in Benalmádena combines gastronomy, training, and live music activities for all audiences. Over three days, neighbors and visitors will be able to enjoy an experience centered around local products from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, and from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Sunday.
On the starting day, Friday, April 24, at 11:30 AM, a 'showcooking' from the restaurant Bocai Sabor a Cai will take place, followed at 12:30 PM by a culinary demonstration from the restaurant El Quebracho. At 1:30 PM, the 'tapa hour' will arrive, with tastings accompanied by beer or cocktails, olives, and snacks.
In the afternoon, activities will continue at 4:00 PM with music and atmosphere in the Sabor a Málaga space. At 6:00 PM, the focus will be on Malaga sausages with an informative and tasting activity, while at 7:00 PM the group Gran Premio will offer a live concert. The day will conclude at 9:00 PM.
On Saturday, the 25th, at 11:30 AM, the restaurant Sushi Meshi will star in a culinary demonstration of fusion cuisine, followed at 12:30 PM by the restaurant Moscatel 45 with a proposal of high Mediterranean gastronomy. At 1:30 PM, the spotlight will be on extra virgin olive oil with a tasting and workshop dedicated to discovering the secrets of Malaga's AOVE.
Music will again set the mood in the afternoon from 4:00 PM and at 6:00 PM a session focused on Malaga cheeses will be held, with tasting and explanation of their varieties, while at 7:00 PM the live performance of the group Benalrock80 will take place. The day will close at 9:00 PM.
Finally, on Sunday, the 26th, at 12:00 PM, a children's workshop will be held by Las Delicias de Mi Noe, followed at 1:00 PM by an activity where the little ones can create and decorate their own cookies. At 2:00 PM, various gastronomic preparations with rulo malagueño as the main ingredient will be presented.
Furthermore, at 6:00 PM a tasting focused on Malaga's afternoon snack, with products such as sponge cakes, honey, and coffee, will take place, and the final touch will be put at 7:00 PM by the musical session of Dj Kaya, before the definitive closure of the fair at 8:00 PM.
