Investment does not stop in Marbella: a shopping center on the Golden Mile, a luxury resort, and 200 homes

During the month of March, the Marbella City Council processed 6.2 million euros in licenses for minor construction projects, or ... in other words: 200,000 euros per day in investment. And what this Tuesday, April 14, has gone through the Local Government Board are two urban developments that will entail tens of millions of euros in expenditures for their developers. These two extremes reflect the same aspect: the investment attraction capability of the province's second city.

This Tuesday, the collegiate body of the Marbella City Council reviewed a shopping center in the heart of Golden Mile, a luxury resort, and more than 200 free-market homes in the Pinomar area within two projects that are advancing through various phases. The hotel project alone will represent an investment of 120 million euros.

The shopping center will be located opposite the place where 'everything started': the historic Marbella Club Hotel, the 'kilometer zero' of the Marbella brand. It will have 7,722 square meters of commercial area that will be developed within a project affecting two urban areas totaling 17,340.19 square meters. The new complex will include an underground parking and surface parking areas, as well as the construction of a service road that will connect with the one next to the nearby commercial area, as explained by the councilor for Urban Planning, José Eduardo Díaz.

This project is in its initial steps. What the City Council has approved is a proposal to delineate an Urban Transformation Action for Interior Reform (ATU-RI) within this area of Nagüeles (PA-NG 19).

Hotel and housing in Pinomar

The urban development of the hotel and the new residential area in Pinomar is in a more advanced phase. The City Council is promoting this development by simultaneously processing the land redistribution, urbanization, and approval of the basic project for the hotel establishment's construction works, thanks to the opportunities offered by the Law for the Promotion of Sustainability of the Territory of Andalusia (LISTA), which allows these three procedures to be advanced at the same time, where previously it would have had to be done step by step, as Díaz explained.

What the Local Government Board initially approved this Tuesday was the land redistribution affecting the hotel establishment that will be built on the site that housed the Marbella Playa hotel, where the Greek luxury all-inclusive chain Ikos Resort will establish what will be its second hotel in the province after Ikos Andalusia, located next to Guadalmansa beach in Estepona, and opened since May 2021.

The urban development of the area includes the construction of 200 free-market homes, in addition to the execution of infrastructure such as the continuation of the coastal path, a service road next to the A-7 highway, and other actions in this sector of the Alicate Action Polygon number 11 (PA.AL-11).

The hotel, located on the beachfront and next to the A-7, will involve an investment of 120 million euros and the creation of a thousand jobs between the development of the construction and the hotel operations. It will have 340 rooms, with an exclusive and innovative design, which will include suites equipped with terraces and private pools on the beachfront, in addition to offering a wide range of premium gastronomy and an exclusive spa. The initial intention of the Greek hotel chain was for the establishment to open its doors in 2028.
