Tickets go on sale for visiting the Caminito del Rey

A date to mark on the calendar. Next Wednesday, April 8, tickets will go on sale for the opportunity to enjoy the experience of walking the Caminito del Rey. From that moment on, tickets will be available for this excursion that attracts travelers from far-flung markets, including Australia, from June 30 to December 6. Tickets will be available from 10:00 AM for the general public, organized tours, and travel agencies on the website www.caminitodelrey.info, as explained by the Málaga Provincial Council.

They report that during this period, around 220,000 tickets will be put on sale to walk a path that continues to be of great interest to visitors. Visits can be made from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and, starting from late October, when winter hours come into effect, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During this period, they will also open on eleven Mondays: July 13 and 27; August 10, 17, and 24; September 7, 14, and 21; October 12 and 19; and November 2.

The Málaga Provincial Council assures that the general admission remains priced at 10 euros (with a limit of ten per buyer) and 18 euros for a ticket that includes an official guided tour, conducted in Spanish and English for a group of up to 30 people. Additionally, they remind that children under eight years old cannot access the Caminito and that those older than this age must prove it with the original ID or Family Book, and that visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Caminito del Rey, currently managed by the UTE Sando Salzillo Servicios Integrales and Mundo Management, is an aerial path built on the walls of the Natural Park of the Gaitanes Gorge, in the municipalities of Álora, Ardales, and Antequera. The Guadalhorce River runs through it after passing through the reservoirs of El Chorro, Guadalhorce, Guadalteba, and Gaitanejo. It is three kilometers long and just one meter wide. One of the most well-known parts of the site is the cantilever, a hanging walkway at a height of 105 meters above the ground.

They warn that visiting the Caminito del Rey is also "an opportunity to enjoy the landscapes and the communities of living beings linked to rocky habitats, as well as specialized flora, among which the endangered Rupicapnos africana subsp. decipiens stands out, exclusive to some limestone mountain ranges in Andalusia and Morocco." They explain that the abundant cliff-dwelling birdlife is especially significant, with numerous breeding pairs of griffon vultures, red-billed choughs, and alpine swifts, while much rarer are the golden eagle, the peregrine falcon, and endangered species such as the Bonelli's eagle and the Egyptian vulture.

Furthermore, they advance that the Caminito del Rey has a visitor reception center located in the municipality of Ardales, where they offer information about the natural site and its surroundings and has a parking lot with a capacity for 240 vehicles. The price is 2 euros for the entire day and can be paid on the website when purchasing a ticket. It is recommended to park at least an hour in advance.

From the parking lot, a shuttle bus runs back and forth to the Caminito. The ticket is valid for the whole day and can be purchased on the website or paid directly (cash only) to the bus driver. The price is 2.50 euros.
