What days do stores and shopping centers open during Holy Week in Malaga?
The trade sector will make a new effort during Passion Week
Easter week is coming, which means, among other things, enjoying some days off. And as often happens during holidays, the question arises ... whether the retail sector is among the lucky ones who will enjoy days off during these dates.
However, the answer is clear this year, and it is negative, since stores and shopping centers in Málaga are authorized to open during Easter every day, including Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday as well as the holidays of Holy Thursday and Good Friday (April 2 and 3, respectively), although it is possible that on these special dates they might open at a slightly different schedule than usual.
Thus, from March 29 to April 5 (both included), shopping every day is possible in Málaga city at the shopping centers Larios Centro, Málaga Plaza, Rosaleda, Vialia Málaga-Estación María Zambrano, Los Patios, Plaza Mayor, and McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Málaga, and the shopping park Málaga Nostrum as well as large stores like El Corte Inglés, Ikea, Carrefour, Leroy Merlin, Conforama, Verdecora, and Muelle Uno.
In the province, the shopping centers Miramar (Fuengirola), Rincón de la Victoria, Puerto Marina Shopping in Benalmádena, the El Corte Inglés centers in Mijas and Marbella, La Trocha (Coín), La Verónica (Antequera), La Cañada (Marbella), El Ingenio (Vélez-Málaga), and Centro Comercial CostasolCentro (Torremolinos) will also serve the public daily.
Annual Calendar
As for small businesses (with an area of 300 meters or less), they have the authority to decide whether to open on holidays, both in the capital and in the province, throughout the entire year.
The 16 Sundays and holidays with authorized opening (subject to possible changes) in the retail sector this year in Andalusia are as follows: Sunday, January 4; Sunday, January 11; Saturday, February 28; Thursday, April 2; Sunday, May 3; Sunday, July 5; Sunday, July 26; Sunday, August 2; Saturday, August 15; Monday, October 12; Monday, November 2; Sunday, November 29; Monday, December 7; Sunday, December 13; Sunday, December 20; and Sunday, December 27.
