Marbella will host the 4th 'Schuster & Friends' Tournament from June 4 to 6, a charity event driven by the former football player and coach, Bernd Schuster. After its first three editions, it has established itself as one of the most significant social and sporting events on the national golf calendar for amateurs. The event will take place at the Marbella Santa Clara Golf course and will have the support of the Marbella and Mijas town councils and the Provincial Council of Málaga.

The initiative, being held for the first time in Andalusia, gathers numerous personalities each year, especially from the sports world, but also from social, cultural, media, and political sectors, in an event that combines sport, coexistence, and solidarity. In its first three editions, held in Salamanca, the tournament has become a benchmark in amateur golf, attracting significant figures and reinforcing its charitable character.

"Uniting sport, solidarity, and the presence of numerous celebrities will make Marbella the epicenter of such events in June"

Councilor for Sports

The Marbella Councilor for Sports, Lisandro Vieytes, emphasized during the presentation that this event fully aligns with the municipal strategy to position Marbella as a venue for major events and highlighted that the combination of sport, solidarity, and participation of personalities makes the tournament an especially attractive proposal. "Uniting these areas and the presence of numerous celebrities will make Marbella the epicenter of such events in June," stated Vieytes, who added that "Santa Clara Golf is one of the great courses in our city and offers ideal conditions to host an event of this nature."

The municipal officer also thanked the organizers for choosing Marbella for this new stage of the tournament and expressed his confidence that the event will continue in the destination. "We are delighted to welcome this event and that Marbella can become its venue for many years," he noted. Meanwhile, the deputy of the Sports area and vice president of the Provincial Council, Cristóbal Ortega, highlighted the value of this initiative for the destination and its ability to project the golf-related offerings and congratulated the event promoters for choosing the Costa del Sol as the venue for this occasion.

A Qualitative Leap

On the other hand, Schuster explained that the project started three years ago with the intention of gathering friends and sharing a weekend around golf after the pandemic period. The former football player recalled that the first editions were held in Salamanca and that moving the event to the Costa del Sol represents a qualitative leap for the project.

He also noted the positive reception of the change of venue among the participants. "When we told them that the tournament would be held in Marbella, everyone reacted enthusiastically." "The Costa del Sol has a special light and everyone is delighted to come," he stated. The organizer acknowledged the institutional support and the collaboration of the involved entities, showing his confidence in the future of the initiative. "We are convinced that everything will go very well and that, if expectations are met, we can continue to grow and consolidate this tournament in the coming years," he concluded.
