The Great Park of Mijas will reopen its doors this weekend after the City Council repaired the damages suffered in the recreational area due to the last storm, which forced its closure until the necessary cleaning tasks were carried out, as announced this Thursday by Daniel Gómez, the Councilor for Parks and Gardens of the Mijas City Council.
The facility will open in its entirety, meaning that access will be through both entrances, each with an adjacent parking lot, such as the main one by the area of La Morena towards the La Alberquilla crossroads and the secondary one by the road of Cerro del Águila, at the level of the San Cayetano cemetery.
In this way, the City Council highlighted in a statement that visitors will be able to explore all areas of the Great Park and all playgrounds will be open, as well as sports areas and the canine area.
On the other hand, it has been noted that the access and presence of motorized vehicles, such as electric scooters and motorcycles, will be prohibited, and they must be parked outside the facility. Private security will be coordinated with the Mijas Local Police to enhance surveillance and protection of the users. The opening hours will be from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The Great Park of Mijas, with 270,000 square meters of surface area, is the largest urban facility of its kind in Andalusia. It is located in a floodable area, hence the issues when storms like the recent wind and rain occur.
