Kyiv Ballet Returns to the Costa del Sol

Estepona’s Felipe VI Theatre Auditorium will welcome the Kyiv Ballet on Friday 9 October for a performance of Swan Lake, one of the world’s most recognisable classical ballets.

The performance will begin at 8:30 p.m. and feature the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreography based on the work of Marius Petipa.

The company arrives in Estepona as part of its 2026 tour after performing at numerous venues across Spain in recent years.

A Story of Love, Magic and Betrayal

Swan Lake follows Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette, who has been transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart.

The spell can only be broken by a promise of true love. However, the arrival of Odile, known as the Black Swan, leads to a story shaped by deception and betrayal.

Tchaikovsky’s score accompanies the drama with some of the most recognisable music in the classical repertoire.

One of Ballet’s Most Famous Works

The production is known for its coordinated ensemble movements, demanding choreography and the technical challenge of portraying Odette and Odile, roles traditionally performed by the same dancer.

The dance of the little swans is among its most famous scenes and has become one of the defining images of classical ballet.

Its combination of music, dance, costumes and scenery continues to attract audiences of different generations more than a century after its premiere.

More Than 425,000 Spectators

The Kyiv Ballet began touring Spanish theatres in 2022 and has since maintained an extensive international programme.

According to the company, more than 425,000 spectators have attended its productions. Its repertoire includes other major works such as The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote and Le Corsaire.

The company brings together emerging performers and experienced dancers trained in the Ukrainian academic tradition.

A Landmark Score and Choreography

The music for Swan Lake was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky between 1875 and 1876.

The libretto was written by Vladimir Beghitchev and Vasili Geletzer, while the best-known choreographic version is associated with Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.

The production retains the essential elements of classical ballet while presenting the story to both established dance enthusiasts and first-time audiences.

Tickets for ‘Swan Lake’ in Estepona

Tickets are available from €49.50 through the official Felipe VI Theatre Auditorium website and authorised ticketing channels.

Remaining seats may also be purchased at the auditorium box office from two hours before the performance begins.

The venue is located on Calle Diputado Ignacio Mena in Estepona.

A Cultural Highlight for the October Weekend

The performance forms part of Estepona’s cultural programme during the October holiday weekend and is one of the town’s leading stage events.

It is suitable both for established ballet fans and anyone interested in discovering one of dance’s most universal stories.

The performance will begin at 8:30 p.m., and audience members are advised to arrive early to locate their seats and avoid delays.
