Mijas Returns to the Search for Spain’s Best Burger

The Champions Burger will return to Mijas this summer with a revamped edition of its travelling food competition. The event will take place at the Las Lagunas fairground from 20 August to 6 September 2026.

Admission to the venue will be free, although burgers, drinks and other food products must be purchased separately. Doors will open for the first time at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday 20 August.

Following the response to its previous visit, the organisers have extended the event and added new attractions combining food, competition and entertainment.

Seventeen Burger Restaurants Will Compete

A total of 17 restaurants from different parts of Spain will serve original creations from the competition’s distinctive food trucks.

The line-up includes local representative Dak Burger, which returns after becoming one of the public’s favourite contenders during the previous edition.

Other participating restaurants include Bsmash, Gottan, Burger Chao, Nolito’s, Godeo, Street Food, The VicBros Burger, Vacarnal, Tokio, Circo, El Tarantín Chiflado, Muralla, Ardemos, Está Rico, Briochef and Baool.

One of the main attractions will be Nolito’s and its Diamante Azul burger, a creation that achieved three podium finishes during the 2025 tour.

Premium Meat and Unconventional Recipes

Certified premium cuts of meat cooked directly over the grill will provide the foundation for the competing burgers. Each restaurant will then attempt to stand out through its own combinations and distinctive presentation.

Visitors can expect brioche and pretzel-style buns, glazes, aromatic cheeses, homemade sauces, wood-smoked ingredients, savoury jams and a variety of crunchy toppings.

Some recipes will feature less conventional elements such as macaroni and cheese croquettes, gratinated toppings and brightly coloured artisan buns. Additional food trucks will serve chips and fried chicken.

The Big Game Brings a New Look to the Event

The Mijas edition will introduce The Big Game, a themed route inspired by the atmosphere and visual style of major American football matches.

Immersive lighting, entrance tunnels, interactive activities and red, white and blue decorations will transform the fairground. The aim is to turn a burger tasting into a broader leisure experience.

The new setting will surround the food trucks and seating areas throughout the event’s run of more than two weeks.

Visitors Will Choose the Winners

The public will once again play a decisive role in the competition. Each purchase receipt will include a QR code allowing visitors to rate the burger they have tried.

Scores will consider the bun, meat, combination of ingredients, presentation and originality. The three highest-rated creations will take their places on the podium for the Mijas stage.

The results will also contribute to the overall tour standings. Each restaurant will aim to secure enough votes to reach the grand final and compete for the title of Spain’s best burger.

Cheesecake Joins the Menu

Visitors looking for something sweet will find one of the main additions to the 2026 event: The Champions Cheesecake.

The dedicated area will bring together creations from five specialist cheesecake bakeries. Their selection will range from traditional recipes to more adventurous combinations featuring smoked notes, pistachio, hazelnuts, chocolate and different varieties of biscuits.

The new section expands the festival’s offering and turns the Las Lagunas fairground into a meeting place for fans of both gourmet burgers and one of today’s most popular desserts.
