Torremolinos is officially opening the new Plaza de La Nogalera, one of the most recognisable and busiest spots in the town centre. Following improvement works in this key area, the Town Hall has organised a festive day to celebrate the reopening of a space set to regain prominence in the town’s social, commercial and tourist life.

The inauguration will take place on Thursday 23 July, with free activities from 7 pm and the official ceremony scheduled for 10 pm. The programme will take place in the square itself and in other central locations, including Avenida Palma de Mallorca, Plaza de Andalucía, Plaza Costa del Sol, Calle San Miguel, Pasaje Pizarro, Calle Cauce and Calle Antonio Girón.

A more accessible square designed for everyday use

The renovation of La Nogalera is part of the urban regeneration work being carried out in Torremolinos. The aim has been to transform this area into a more modern, accessible and safer space, adapted to the daily use of residents, visitors and tourists.

The square plays a key role in the town’s mobility and activity, as it is located next to the Cercanías train station and surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants and busy pedestrian routes. Thousands of people pass through the area every day, making its renovation an important improvement for both the image and the functioning of central Torremolinos.

Free activities from the afternoon

The celebration will begin at 7 pm, with entertainment in different areas of the town centre. Plaza de La Nogalera will host five children’s workshops inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, designed so families can also enjoy the day.

At 9 pm, Jassy Ojeda will perform, followed by the official opening ceremony one hour later. After the institutional event, music will continue until 11.30 pm with two DJs and the show Recreo.

Market, music, fashion and street entertainment

The programme will not be limited to La Nogalera. Calle San Miguel will feature special decoration throughout the day, while Plaza de Andalucía will host a market and musical entertainment from 7 pm to midnight.

Plaza Costa del Sol will welcome the Torremolinos LGTBI Choir at 7 pm, followed by Lucía Barroso with The Royal Family at 7.45 pm and dancer and choreographer Manuel Roldán at 8.30 pm.

Avenida Palma de Mallorca will also become a showcase for local talent, with live hairdressing demonstrations and a fashion runway featuring local businesses between 8 pm and 9.30 pm. There will also be music in several areas of the town centre and roaming entertainment with floral and magical characters.

La Nogalera, a key spot in Torremolinos

The reopening of La Nogalera marks an important step in strengthening the centre of Torremolinos as a meeting place. The square is not only a transit area: it is also closely linked to the town’s commercial life, leisure scene, restaurants and urban identity.

With this inauguration, Torremolinos aims to bring activity back to one of its most emblematic spaces and turn it into a more comfortable area for residents and visitors throughout the year.
