Cañada del Lobo, one of Torremolinos’ best-known natural areas, has unveiled a new attraction: a giant bench offering panoramic views across the Costa del Sol.

Torremolinos Town Council has installed two wooden benches designed to blend into the surrounding landscape. The initiative aims to improve the experience for visitors exploring the Sierra de Torremolinos and promote more sustainable nature tourism.

A Four-Metre-Wide Bench

The most striking installation is located beside the Cañada del Lobo viewpoint. The giant bench measures four metres wide, with its seat positioned 1.30 metres above the ground, and reaches a total height of 2.40 metres.

Its unusual dimensions make it a new place to stop, enjoy the scenery and take photographs with Málaga Bay in the background.

A second, more traditionally sized bench has been installed along the path leading up to the natural area. Measuring 2.06 metres in length, it provides another resting point for hikers and visitors.

A New Attraction Along the Hiking Trails

Cañada del Lobo is known for its network of trails running through pine forests and Mediterranean vegetation, including holm oaks, cork oaks, wild olive trees and dwarf palms.

Its viewpoints offer extensive panoramas of the Costa del Sol and Málaga Bay. One of the route’s most recognisable landmarks is a sculpture of a howling wolf, which has become a symbol of the area.

Through the installation of the new benches, the council hopes to create additional points of interest, encourage outdoor activities and make the municipality’s natural heritage more accessible to residents and tourists.

A Photogenic Spot for Social Media

Giant benches have become increasingly popular tourist attractions in several Spanish towns. Their unusual scale creates eye-catching photographs that are often widely shared on social media.

Torremolinos expects the new installation to increase the visibility of Cañada del Lobo, attract more visitors and strengthen nature tourism as a complement to the municipality’s traditional sun-and-beach offer.
