Antequera will once again transform its monuments, squares and streets into a large open-air stage for Andalucía Antequera Light Fest 2026.

The festival will take place from Wednesday, 15 July to Sunday, 19 July, with a wide programme of free activities. The main light shows will be held on Friday 17 and Saturday 18, when the Historic Centre will host audiovisual installations, video mapping, live music and fire performances.

This tenth edition will be particularly special, as it coincides with the anniversary of the Antequera Dolmens Site being declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Immersive Video Mapping Inside the Collegiate Church

One of this year’s main new attractions will be Luminare, an immersive experience inside the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor.

Unlike conventional video-mapping shows projected onto building façades, the images will illuminate the main altar, columns, arches and ceiling of the historic building.

The show will focus on universal heritage and the evolution of humanity, using the church’s interior architecture as an essential part of the experience.

Rain of Light, Fire Shows and Illuminated Planets

The light trail will continue through several locations in central Antequera.

At Cuesta de San Judas, the Rain of Light installation will cover the trees with thousands of blue illuminated drops. The display will highlight the importance of water as the origin of life and early human settlements.

Plaza de San Sebastián will host The Fire of History, a performance combining music, fire choreography and visual effects to represent the origins of humanity.

Meanwhile, the Town Hall Courtyard will become a universe of illuminated planets, live music, projections of World Heritage Sites and large glowing spheres during Music Party Universe.

DJ Music and Video Mapping in Plaza de San Luis

Plaza de San Luis will offer one of the festival’s main attractions for younger audiences.

A DJ will perform from one of the building’s balconies while its façade is transformed by projections inspired by retro-futuristic, technological, Gothic and cyberpunk settings.

The show, called DJ Light, will combine music and video mapping in sessions lasting approximately 30 minutes.

The five main light installations will be available on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 July, from 10:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Family Days Festival at Paseo Real

The festival has extended its programme this year with the addition of the Family Days Festival, which will take place at Paseo Real from 15 to 19 July.

The area will feature 12 food trucks and a free programme of concerts, children’s shows, multimedia activities, dancing, games and musical tributes.
